INDEX 2014

It was a great success for the BOLD team, we managed to network with other businesses and show what we have to offer in our showroom. It was a pure BOLD to BESPOKE experience for us.

I also had the great honour of meeting with some VIP guests of the #INDEX2014 exhibition.

HH Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, as well as members of the Abu Dhabi royal family. It was a great pleasure and honour showing them our products and introducing them to BOLD and its Bespoke designs.

At the exhibitionwe  introduced a couple of new products, such as sentient natural live edge table from New York, Maer Charm Semi precious stones from Romania or DK homes amazing collection of some of the most rarest and luxuries material and finishings from around the world.

We were able to network, and exhange ideas with hundreds of designers, architects, contractors around this region, which was very exciting for the BOLD team and myself.

I must say overall it was a great first participation at Index 2014.

I hope we get to be at the next INDEX exhibition and hopefully we will see you stop by…as it seems a lot of people told us we have the most interesting and prettiest stand of all. Thanks to the amazing collaboration between the BOLD and CLSE team

The World of Leather

On my trips to Milan and China I got to look at different leather…here a few tips to make the right choice when it comes to leather…

Leather furniture is an incredibly versatile choice. Whether your style is relaxed, contemporary, classic or somewhere in between, there is a product to fit your taste. It exudes an immediate sense of prestige and good taste, yet is easy to clean and service over time

There are many questions to consider when buying leather furniture, and depending on your lifestyle, there are certain types of leather that would be better for your unique situation. With so many options out there on the market today, the possibilities are truly endless to what you can find.

All you need to do is ask yourself a few questions to get started…

There are three basic types of leather that you can find; Nubuk, analine, and pigmented leathers.

Nubuk is the least durable of the three, but it has a greater durability than suede, and often has a feel similar to velvet.

Analine is actually a chemical that assists in dying leather with vegetable oil dye. What it does is it opens the pores of the leather, allowing the dye to penetrate all the way through the leather.

Pigmented leather has typically been dyed, sanded, and embossed with a grain, and is usually less expensive while still maintaining a nice feel and look.

One common misconception is that you can’t have leather furniture and pets at the same time. This entirely depends on your pet.  Pigmented leather is one of the best leathers to get if you have pets, because it is durable and easy to clean.

Kids can also determine what leather is best for you. If you have young kids that may spill things or cause a lot of wear, then you may want to go with pigmented leather, but if your kids are older or you know there isn’t a chance of spilling, then analine leather is usually very durable for family lifestyles. Nubuk is typically not a good choice because it is fragile and any stains will show.

Why Leather:

Strength: Highly resistant to fire, scratching and tearing, leather is a low maintenance solution. It’s strong enough to maintain its shape and resist wear, even with everyday and extended use.

Comfort: Flexible, breathable and natural, nothing beats the comfort of leather furniture. It doesn’t stick to your skin, stays cool in summer and warm in winter.

Trips to China and Milan – Selecting Carpets

Recently I went to China and Italy (Milan) to discover the latest designs, materials and accessories on the market. I had great fun selecting carpets and animal skins. Have a look at the pictures of some of the samples that I brought back to Dubai.

Carpets can change your home, they can make the home more cozy and luxurious atmosphere….

Choosing the feel of carpet is the most fun as this is what you will feel when walking barefoot or laying across your floor. Just imagine walking barefoot across the soft, luxurious…oops! Sorry, getting away from myself again!

Animal Skin rugs provide a soft patch on a bare surface and also create an authentic rustic flavor. While animal skins are not often thought of as carpeting, they are tough enough to walk on.
